Preconference Evaluation

A preconference meeting between the student and their preceptor or mentor serves to review course objectives, learner-specific learning goals, roles, and expectations during the practice immersion. The learner will provide all necessary information to the faculty and preceptor/mentor, ensuring clear communication about course objectives and projects. During this meeting, practice immersion goals and planned projects are discussed, and faculty must approve these projects. Additionally, the faculty will send an introductory email to the preceptor/mentor.

DNP-815A Preconference Evaluation: Individual Success Plan (ISP) General Requirements

To successfully complete the ISP assignment, follow these guidelines:

  1. Download Required Documents: Locate and download the ISP and Direct Practice Improvement (DPI) timeline documents in the DNP PI Workspace.
  2. Review Program Milestones: Consult the DNP Program Milestones document and identify applicable domains, competencies, and milestones. Not all courses have milestones, so be sure to check for specific ones related to this course.
  3. Identify Practice Immersion Experiences: Determine the immersion experiences that will help meet each competency. Outline the number of hours required to meet these goals. Incorporate core course concepts to reflect on and improve current practice, and integrate scholarly readings to develop case reports that demonstrate increasing proficiency.
  4. Develop a Personal Plan: Use the ISP to create a personal plan for completing immersion hours and meeting competencies. Highlight all key milestones and deliverables in the timeline.
  5. List Deliverables: Include specific deliverables in the ISP such as individualized DNP practice immersion contracts, logs of immersion hours, evaluations, scholarly activities, CV updates, self-assessments, reflective journals, and DPI Project milestones.
  6. Mandatory Preconference and Postconference: A preconference and postconference are required for all DNP courses (from DNP-805 and DNP-815A onward). These meetings may be conducted in person or via technology, and signed documents must be uploaded to the digital classroom by the end of Topic 1.
  7. Discuss Objectives: Throughout the course, ensure that all learner-specific objectives are reviewed during each conference. Students must complete all mandated experiences.
  8. APA Style: Doctoral learners must use APA style for all writing assignments, and can refer to the APA Style Guide in the Student Success Center.
  9. Rubric: Review the assignment rubric before starting to understand the expectations for successful completion.
  10. Submission Instructions: Submit the ISP assignment via the assignment dropbox in the learning management system and upload it to the Learner Dissertation Page (LDP) in the DNP PI Workspace for future reference.
